The Commemoration Hall was built in 1842 by Robert Fox a local benefactor from Godmanchester and was opened as the Scientific and Literary Institute.  It was operated by a small body of Trustees until a major refurbishment in 1960 resulted in its being handed over to the Town Council for its long term maintenance and operation.   In 2006 Huntingdon Town Council started the process of re-establishing the Charity by changing the make up of the Board of Trustees from 100% Councillors to 50% members of the local community,.

The Commemoration Hall comprises a large main hall (approximately 27ft x 67ft), a foyer (approximately 30ft x 18ft), the Minerva Room (upstairs) (approximately 30ft x 15ft), a substantial stage together with associated dressing rooms, kitchen and disabled toilet facilities.  This Hall is available for hire seven days a week for either commercial or non-commercial events. The Commemoration Hall underwent extensive refurbishment works at the beginning of 2001 following which the Council introduced a no smoking policy.   To see the up to date hire charges for the Hall click here.
